2018 was a very eventful year! Before jumping into 2019, we’d like to share a collection of fun First Citizens moments from the past 12 months:

January
Did you know in 2018 it was National Glazed Donut day on January 12? What a sweet surprise! First Citizens celebrated with bakery-fresh glazed donuts.

February
Our FCB “Super Shoppers” participated in the Grab and Give Grocery Event at Hy-Vee West in Mason City on February 27. Did they win the shopping challenge? Not exactly. The ultimate winner was Hawkeye Harvest Food Bank.

March
Clarion’s Power Saver Club was happy to donate 120 eggs filled with quarters to Clarion’s Easter Egg Hunt that was held on March 31.

April
Our Mora office celebrated 10 years in their new building located at 730 Forest Avenue East on April 13!

May
Our Charles City office put together tubs of snacks and delivered them to Lincoln Elementary, Washington Elementary, the Middle School, the High School, Bus Barn, Carrie Lane Alternative School, IC School, and the Superintendent’s office in honor of Teacher Appreciation Week (May 7 – 11).

June
Our New Hampton “STRONG” employees participated in the Heartland Days parade on June 8.

July
Our Osage employees participated in their town’s annual 4th of July parade with the theme “We’ve Got You Covered” and used umbrellas as props AND for shade. (No rain that day!)

August
The Mora Power Saver Club sponsored Music in the Park on August 16.

September
A little morning rain didn’t stop the Kanawha Labor Day parade on September 1. Our Kanawha employees and their family members rode on or walked beside the “TOTALLY BANKING” float that featured KaChing and BaZing arcade games.

October
Our Mason City State Street employees showed their support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month by wearing pink and jeans on October 19.

November
Mason City employee Bob Klocke won 144 gallons of milk from Hy-Vee in a Fuel Saver promotion. He decided to pay it forward by donating it to the Hawkeye Harvest Food Bank in Mason City on November 5.

December
For a few weeks in December, our Mason City West office displayed a canstuction of three Gingerbread people along with a Gingerbread house filled with non-perishable donations for the Hawkeye Harvest Food Bank.
As 2018 comes to an end, we want to thank you for banking with us and for reading our blog. We wish you all the best for the coming new year and we look forward to being your financial partner!
