Summer is finally here! Many of you will be heading off on family vacations or other getaways. If you are traveling outside of your normal area and plan on using your First Citizens debit card, please let us know before you go. Stop in to the location nearest you or call 800-423-1602. If you don’t, we might think a thief (and not you) is making all those fun-filled vacation purchases and your debit card may get blocked.
At First Citizens, we use a fraud protection tool provided through our partner, Shazam, for our debit card customers. Your debit card activity is monitored and card blocks by Shazam may occur if something appears to be out of the ordinary. When you let First Citizens know that you’re away, we can add a record to your account. This can help prevent your “abnormal” spending patterns from triggering a block on your card.
Other Debit Card Tips:
- Use a PIN whenever possible. It’s the safest payment authentication method since it is something you have, something you know, and something you can change.
- Explore the powerful Shazam Bolt$ app. A reliable fraud protection tool, Shazam Bolt$ immediately sends alerts for any potentially fraudulent activity, 24/7, for the following:
- Purchases exceeding cardholder-defined thresholds
- Card-not-present debit transactions via phone, internet, or mail
- Suspicious or high-risk transactions
You can access Shazam Bolt$ from your mobile device. Learn more by clicking here.
Look for ATMs with the Privileged Status logo. First Citizens Bank is a member of the Shazam Privileged Status ATM Network. This means there are no transaction fees when you use a network member ATM. There are thousands of ATMs nationwide! You can find SHAZAM Privileged Status ATMs by using the ATM Locator Tool within the ATM Shazam Bolt$ app.
