Even in our very electronic, paperless world, sometimes you still receive a check as payment. Fortunately, it is very easy to deposit those funds into your First Citizens checking or savings account from the comfort of your home. Simply use the Mobile FCB app and snap some photos with your smartphone! Watch this video to learn how to make a mobile deposit:


As shown in the video, here are the 5 easy steps:

  1. Open the Mobile FCB App, log in, and tap “Check Deposit”.
  2. Select the account you would like to deposit funds, type the amount, and tap the camera icon.
  3. Focus front side of check in frame on your phone and take picture with auto or manual capture. Tap “Keep picture” or “Retake picture” based on your results.
    IMPORTANT NOTE: Sign the check and write “For Mobile Deposit Only to FCB” below the signature line. Focus back side of check in frame on your phone and take picture with auto or manual capture. Tap “Keep picture” or “Retake picture” based on your results.
  4. Once both photos are captured, tap “Deposit”.
  5. You should see a Successful Deposit confirmation on your phone screen. You’re done! 


Tips for taking good photos of your check:

  • Take photos in a well-lit area; no shadows across the check.
  • Place the check on solid dark background.
  • Keep your phone flat and steady above the check when taking the photo.
  • Ensure all four corners of the check are visible.
  • Hold your phone steady so photo is not blurry.
  • Ensure the MICR line (numbers on the bottom of your check) is readable.


Here is our funds availability policy:

  • If the mobile deposit was made before 4:00 pm, the funds will be available on the next business day. (For example, if before 4:00 pm on a Monday, the funds would be available on Tuesday.)
  • If after 4:00 pm, the funds will be available in the next two business days. (For example, if after 4:00 pm on Tuesday, the funds won't be available until Thursday.)
  • If you make a mobile deposit on a weekend or holiday (non-business days), the funds will be available in the next two business days. For example, if you make the deposit on a Sunday, the funds won't be available until Tuesday.)

First Citizens does not charge a fee for Mobile Deposit. However, Online Banking is a requirement. If you don't have online banking, click here to learn more and to enroll.
